Nescient Gods
Children play bare-chested in the weekend sunlightL
aughter dancing on the arches of muscled thighs
Eden so far so near
Obviate they drink deeply of Riverbank Wine
The nescient gods ignore the offspring
Of the first dews of summer
And tired ever still they resume their slumber
Even as the children form more tangible bodies
Filling transplendant bellies with nectar
And bursting minds with meads
Hope born once again by divine accident
