Tough Love
I don’t regret my marriage
I don’t regret my divorce
It definitely came along
At the wrong time, of course
But there never would have
Been a right time to separate
No matter when
It would have generated hate.
I started the proceedings
So, I was to blame
It not me then the
Children caused the flames.
But an aching hole
Was left in my heart
He was just the man with whom
My life had gotten its start.
So why did I divorce him?
There were so many reasons
We went through a lot
As we lived through the seasons
But life took its toll
As we stretched apart
It got so being with him
Stopped my beating heart
But still there is a warm tug
When I look our creations in the face
One will angle her head just so
I’ll see the great parts of him I know
