I wrote this some time ago, and I just had to share it. It is for fun. So break out your sense of humor.

Separation

The soon-to-be-ex stands tall and mighty

But today he feels a little too feisty

“How can you leave me?  I don’t want you to stay.

Because after all you are in my way.

I must have a wife who knows her place,

One who doesn’t want to look me in the face.

You’ve cheated I know.  I just know it you see

And now of the kids I want custody.

I’m too wonderful to leave.  You must be crazy.

Get busy with housework you must be lazy.

And pay my bills I certainly have plenty.

If I pay my own, I will be left wanting.

I’m the man.  I’m the man.  You’re just a woman after all.

You can’t leave yet for I haven’t made you crawl.”

“I’ve had enough, any more would be silly

I’m leaving; you know I don’t want to dally.

You’ve bruised and cursed all that you see.

After all you’ve done you stand and accuse me?

You’re a jewel of a man it’s plain to see

To stay any longer I would be too crazy.

I’ve already given too much of me.

Now all I ask is that you let me be.

So shut up, old man, you are a bore.

Oh geez, don’t follow me out the door.”

The soon-to-to-be-ex stands outside, mighty and tall

Turned around once, dropped his pants, bared it all.

I sat behind the wheel of my car, the key in the ignition

Pondering fate and my own indecision

Should I kiss his ass with the grill of the car?

Or drive away and leave him without a mar?

My hands were shaking.  My nerves ready to jump.

Musing over “just one little bump.”

Trembling, I put the car in gear

With one last look at his ugly old rear.

Driving away, yes, I still did quake

And regretted forever that opportunity I did not take

I think this is what is known of as tragic humor. The poem is entertaining, that's for sure. However, it has a dark underlying thread of danger, loss and risk that is undeniably present throughout. I also like the conversational approach you took to telling both sides of the story.

Oh... Just what I needed. I am going through a very difficult separation and I know when it's over I will breathe again.
So, thank you for the fun! Skillfully written.

Oh, Liz, this is G R E A T !! Is there a woman in the world who
can't relate to the oh-so-accurate picture you paint? Enlightened men -- thank God for them (and their mothers?) -- are sure to get a buzz out of this marvelously written kick in the rear. You have done such a good job of spelling out the many and sundry frustrations that the such-&-so's are responsible for. So much anger builds! Wonder the courts aren't jammed with "needed-killin'" cases, isn't it?
Ending's p e r f e c t. Whole tamale!! You're the best, girl.
Effin' A !!! Lovingly. . .gratefully. . .yours, 'Pea' xoxoxoxoX ....
PS: 'Like for Marcia Duning of Angels That Care to see this. Okay by you? Wouldn't surprise me if she requested permission to use it at ATC.

... but you've re-lived it bigger and better a thousand times over! And immortalised his dare-he-air for all to see, warts and all. Very cathartic, Elizabeth. And it seems to me he got off very, very lightly... I think he was maybe asking for a couple of bull-horns up his rear instead! Glad you were able to take the higher road and this is very controlled writing done with wit, class and style. Well done you! Kate xx

Jerry, Men are not despicable, nor are women saints. During a separation things can get a bit muddy...and yes this was based on a true life adventure. In the end we could talk to one another almost civilly. lol.

It may have been a golden opportunity, but I think that she took the best route. Leaving him with his pants around his knees, too bad there was no camera to capture the picture. Yet, it's good for a laugh.
