Wondering if I could handle leaving...

Could I Forget You?

I could forget you

If I tried real hard

The energy I would get from it

Wouldn’t get me very far

I could hide behind the smile

I would plaster on my face

If the tears in my eyes

Didn’t leave any trace

I could sleep alone at night

In my cold, cold bed

Never remembering your warmth

With your image in my head

I could be wrapped in the dark

And hear a creepy sound

I wouldn’t reach for your hand

Yearning for you to be around

I could stand on two feet before you

With my head held high

I could call you on the phone

And hang up before I cried

I could fall into your arms

And forget all of my fears

I mean, I could forget you

And er…not have any tears

I mean to keep my focus

When I’m forgetting you

This isn’t working out

So the fact I can’t forget, is true

I don't think we can ever truly forget those who have touched our lives and hearts in such a profound way ... it's nearly impossible. Well done. Best, Elizabeth

I do not believe that a "love" can ever be forgotten. I empathize with your sentiments, Liz. Love and best wishes,

Like a walk around the park, this is a good exercise that seems to land the emotions back in the same spot as at the beginning... but the process is positive, at least. And good for the soul. Ten out of ten for effort... but nope... fraid you're still there! A light and airy gait to thoughts that could otherwise be driving the thinker potty! I like the jauntiness of this, Elizabeth. Liz,
A sad feeling to this one. Sounds as though you are at a crossroads. Writing can sometimes give you better insight into feelings you didn't know you were having. I wonder if that happened to you when you wrote this piece. Stay strong. Hugs~

Sad, but so well written, I can't help but take delight. Like hearing a beautifully-played violin! Everything is right. Tone, rhythm, rhyme, pace. . .e v e r y t h i n g. Tres elegante, mon ami, tres tres elegante. Votre ami, 'Pi':)

A true love is almost unforgetable unless you are lucky enough to find that very special person to fill the void. Thank you for sharing Elizabeth.

Beautiful sentiments here. I also like the movement of the poem-- steady, fluid, and musical. --Charlie
