While Driving Along…

Oh God…my chest…
so tight…the pain…
if it’s my time…I’m
not ready…my granddaughter…
I’ll pull to the side of the road…my
daughters need me too, but they would
never tell me…not drive any
further…I can’t catch…
my breath…oh, my nephew’s
graduation…rest…I’m so weary…
I wouldn’t want to be taken in a
case…my vision’s dim…
of mistaken identification…
the horns of the impatient are quieter…I
see the light…well, at least I did…the
car horns blasting…my vision is clear…no pain
…car back in gear…now slowly drive away
…I wonder…

Sounds like anxiety to me. Comes on as quickly and like that. Glad you got home safe and sound. Take care and be careful and think positive and write us too with good poems.

Not rejected, your mission is not finished. How real you describe things. Glad to hear your back in gear.

How frightfully real this image is, Liz! Had those same 'messages' myself; am a 10-year survivor of quad-bypass. Girl...pray you've had yourself checked thoroughly! Love your humorouse finale :o) Definately NOT rejected, friend; you're meant to do so much more good...

Oh my goodness... this is so acute it grips like a vice, Liz. I was a bit caught up in a drama on the water yesterday... it might well have ended in tragedy, but happily it didn't. It made me think how fast accidents can happen and fragile life is. Your thoughtstream is powerful... but I love the twist at the end, with the ... humour, I hope! :)) No rejection here, just thank God it wasn't your time! Take care, Kate xx

You did a terrific job here of taking us along for the ride. We read your mind as your thoughts travel between responses to the pain and other symptoms you are experiencing and your regretful thoughts of possibly leaving your family, who still need you. Then in and out of the light--this is truly a unique and well-crafted poem. As for the "REJECTED" line, I would rather take it as "GIVEN ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY" and accept it as a gift from the Lord.
BUT, I certainly hope you drove home that day and made an appointment with your doctor. Symptoms such as that should definitely not be ignored!

Sincerely,
Connie

The end of this poem offers a unique perspective, Liz! If this account is true, I hope you're feeling better and I'm glad you lived to tell the tale. You stay away from that light! I'm determined to hear more from you. A great delivery...like a punch to the belly. Love and Hugs to you~

That's very frightening, Liz. Good poetry, but nasty to go through to get the inspiration. Then there's the wonder of it...mistaken identity followed by rejected. When it's your time to go, it's your time to go, and I share your wonder at whether you were given the chance to opt out....Jerry
