Oh, the magic and wonder of words--and the destructiveness.
My Heart is Aching
I woke up this cool February morning
Feeling the world shaky beneath my feet
I quarreled with my sister last night
And God, the pain that I now reap!
Stupid arguments so useless and futile
Absolutely worthless and such a waste,
Why do we allow temperamental emotions
To dictate and muddy our gentle grace?
She said “you said this” and I reacted
I said “you said that” and she reacted, too.
Soon we were bickering back and forth
Like two old ignorant crazy people do.
God, I’ve lived so many years
Watching foolish words tear people apart,
Minds in a deep forest of damaging thoughts
Distorted ramblings tearing at our hearts.
What do arguments do to the fragile psych?
Makes one pull inside themselves to sigh
To worry over the garble ofharshly spoken words
To feel fury and bitterness, to hurt, mourn, and cry.
Anger is akin to emotions after a death,
Phases of mourning come pouring like rain
Indignation, resentment, hostility and outrage
A muddled brain feeling ravished with pain.
Oh, how warbled is my mind today,
As I start my morning chores,
How sorry I am, how sorry I feel
To have closed those camaraderie doors—
between me, my sister and friend.
God grant me to learn from this mistake
To borrow strength from You above
To help me avoid such hellish pitfalls
That shake the foundation of honest love.
Keep me peaceful and outward directed
Toward the problems that other’s face
Help me be strong and an understanding friend
When others’ quirks seem out of place.
Enrich me with your spirit of goodwill.
Let me not run away choosing rejection then
Let me forgive and love her still
My flesh, my blood, my sister, my friend.

You can do it, before you know the two of you will be laughing together again...and maybe even laugh about just how meaningless the arguement was...it doesn't pay for us to stay angry but of course you already know that.

O, how tragic it is to offend a loved one. The pain on both sides is unbearable.
Your writing in your novel When Justice is Served reveals your deep, soulful wisdom. I wish I could add to it. I wish I could offer you some original advice. But the words of Paul Berube in the review below are the most powerful, the most curative of all. Simply call your sister and say, "I love you!"
Oh, Jeanette!!!!! I hope you will show your sister this poem and reconciliate. A simple note with flowers also might do well too, since it is close to Valentine's Day.
Just think of it this way, only sisters who are close to each other can fight and argue like that. My sister and I are very far apart, there is an age-gap in between us, so we could never really be as close like any other siblings. We can't even have this closeness to talk about everything, therefore, it is impossible for us to fight and argue.
You and your sister must be very close to one another, so you must reconciliate and continue on with your good relationship!

There is absolutely no bond strong than the one between Sisters. Although most of the time, we don't realize it until much later in our lives.
Even if she won't hear your apologies today, or she doesn't herself apologize...step up and be the hero in this relationship...I guarantee you'll feel better in the long run. Besides, we only get one shot at life...so we have to make the best of it.

This touches my heart. I have three sisters and even thou we've had our differences in the past we all know that we love each other and one is always there for the other. I'm sure your sister knows this too, Jeanette.
