This actually happened...well maybe not from this point of view, but nevertheless we had this tiny visitor and decided to let him go free, thanks to our daughter. Oh my hadn't thought about this in a long, long time. Just a cute little story hope you enjoy...Merry Christmas to all!

The Christmas Visitor

The house was full of commotion…

Maybe no one would see,

That I...the Christmas visitor was hiding in their tree!

The kitchen full of wonderful aromas,

Sweet potatoes, turkey, and stuffing with cornbread.

Oh, I hope they don’t discover me…for my fate I would surely dread.

I will be the great pretender…

Yes, my identity a secret it will remain…

I will continue to hide behind this ornament, a cute little toy train.

Oh…what a lovely little bell,

It is beautiful and I can see my reflection…

Go away cat…your feline nose has a mighty built in detection.

Must be the rum balls or too much vanilla in the cake…

For that is when I dozed off or passed out…

And fell out of the tree and heard someone scream and shout!

It’s a mouse…not an ornament…

Get it…someone shouted!

No, it’s so cute…set him free! A little girl pouted.

So outside I am once again…

I really liked that prickly green Christmas tree,

Especially the ornament…I had already grown fond of that looked a lot like me.

So for now…I’ll go in search of yet another home and a different tree…

Warm and all cozy on the inside…

On Christmas morning…look carefully I might choose your tree in which to hide!

What a special visitor and a delightful moment to savour and remember, Joyce! Like something out of a cartoon or storybook. Perhaps he ran off to a Bethlehem stable afterwards, too! Bless you and thank you for this heartwarming tale. Happy Christmas! LOL K xx

LOL reminds me of one time when I was teaching at Eastern New Mexico University. I had a professor friend whose 12-year-old son had frogs for pets. One got loose one Saturday, and of course, his folks would be having a party that evening. The mom wrned us that we might find a frog, and hoped we wouldn't step on it. We sat down to table. She had a lovely center piece. I looked at it and saw a pair of eyes staring back at me.....

cute little story Joyce, I did the same thing with my little mouse. For 15 years we have been mouse free, then one day one got caught on a sticky trap. I put him in a bag and took him to work. Let him out in the woods behind my office. Little sucker took off like a jet, of course the tree hawks probably got him later. Have a merrry Christmas

Cute. I am glad it was spared. Not that I like mice much, but well, it's Christmas for him too after all. Victor

A wise mouse this one.

The smells and spirit of the season along with the ambiance of everything good. He knew exactly where to go to get this. Good thing the cat didn't get him. Delightful write Joyce - you really are a slice of Americana.

Peace and Blessings this season ...
