We often forget during the holiday season about the thousands of nameless faces that defend the fence lines and keep us safe. They stand watch on isolated posts alone in far off lands away from their homes, ensuring that all is quiet and nothing is stirring about. Silently keeping guard without ever requesting attention so we can live in peace.

No matter what you may think of their profession, remember they defend your freedoms. So as you hear the story of “The Night Before Christmas”, think of these young men and women. Imagine how homesick they must be during this time of family togetherness. Ask yourself how much they would love a cup of hot coca and a warm fireplace.

On this Christmas Eve, as I say good night to my family I will remember these peace keepers and say a prayer for those in harms way. I ask for all to remember the Silent Guardians that let us have “a good night” on this Silent Night.
