It isn't enough to be content with
The way things are, the status quo
Nor is it  enough to love the dream
That enables me to have life's best
My  intent is seek to find lifes zest

I choose not to be captured by
The mundane matters of the world
I stay tuned ,but not entangled
Choosing instead to learn of  what's ahead
For what is here is only temporary

There is a rich vein of information
To be discovered in the mines of the soul
When you let your mind dwell on Creator
You learn that creation is within you
From that source you can look ahead

I'm very saddened for the unfortunates
Who can only think in terms of "things"
Wanting what can never truly satisfy
Instead of obtaining the peace of wisdom
Love and relationships require only truth

To desire what is ephemeral is foolish
A hug costs nothing, nor does a kiss
Complimentary words cannot be bought
Listening to family and  friends problems
Uplifting the spirits of others, are all free

Knowing at death all is left behind
Wisdom is to know Creators mind

A good poem, I like the content in this. This is on spiritual and occult grounds, on which I can hardly comment. As mentioned by somebody downstairs: it is a jab at materialistic ideologies.

Aw, yeah, you got it right, of course. I have never been much of a material" guy. Don't get me wrong, I like my comfort and I like gadgets, but not to the exclusion of happiness. THAT is the real deal.

I liked this very thoughtful poem. Today I seem to be stumbling across a lot of poems that are questioning materialistic attitudes. Is something going on over there?

Heaps of wisdom in this write, Eileen. It is so true that many people get caught up in the day to day stuff and the news of the day, that they forget, in time, none of it will matter but today is lost once the sun drops below the horizon. There is beauty all around us and we should spend our time dwelling on that instead of all the dredful things that the media and others are trying to cram down our throats. Soaking in a bit of sunlight, breathing in the morning air and appreciating the beauty of nature will do more to soothe the soul than any drug ever created.
Take care,
Sherry
