Reasons why the Egyptian dream ritual
was used daily to try to visualize their afterlife journey

I try to describe what you see of the goddess Ma'at and others,in the graphic starting from upper left box...

I am Ma'at the goddess of truth
Annubis must weigh my heart
against the feather of righteousness
will the feather or my heart weigh less
evil deeds make the heart heavy

Ammit god of crocodile head
and hippopotamous legs
awaits the results to be read
if my heart is heavier than feather
I shall be condemned into
oblivion for eternity

If the feather outweighs heart
glorious life it will impart
I shall be presented to Osiris
to join the afterlife,
Thoth the Ibis headed god of
wisdom waits to record the outcome

Horus, god with falconhead then
leads the deceased to Osiris,
Horus represents Pharoah during life
His father Osiris ,Pharoah during death,

Osiris sits on his throne  mummified
on his head white crown of lower egypt
as a mummy holding kingship in his hand
the shepherds crook symbolizes his role
as shepherd of mankind

The flail, his ability to separate wheat
from chaff ,Osiris'  wife Iris, sister Nephthys
stand behind his throne,and welcome the
deceased to the underworld

" The tomb-owner would continue after death the occupations of this life and so everything required was packed in the tomb along with the body. Writing materials were often supplied along with clothing, wigs, and hairdressing supplies and assorted tools, depending on the occupation of the deceased.

Often model tools rather than full size ones would be placed in the tomb; models were cheaper and took up less space and in the after-life would be magically transformed into the real thing.

Egyptians believed in  rituals and magic which were all done in the hopes that one could reach the Land of the West (heaven),and a happy afterlife, filled with good things. To live forever with the gods. To, once more, come forth by day as a living man would awaken with the sun."
