It was a beautiful day
Especially for water play
Sunlight warm and bright
Made the Egret delight
It was stalking fish to eat
Having fun splashing its feet
Then a croaking voice it heard
"Making too much noise, dumb bird"
Egret flew up and on the tree
"How dare you use that sign with me?"
Tree scowled then said "don't malinger"
Egret said,"No wonder you have no leaves
Imagine dead bark giving me the finger!"
"Dumb bird,I'll be here long after your gone "
Egret had the last word, as it flew away
"Only for other birds to shit upon"

etw

When I saw this pic my first thought
was the tree giving the finger sign;-)heehee

Truly an extraordinary partnership--whether official or not--between the pen of the poet adn the eye of the photographer to have produced this witty, wise, and wonderful work.

By the looks of that picture, that egret already told that old tree what he thought of it! I sure wish I was an egret sometimes - but I'd probably still be nice to trees.

This picture reminds me of the sanctuary I lived in while I was residing in Florida. Each morning as I would go for my jog on the lakeside path, I would see egrets, herons, even the beautiful blue herons, ducks, geese and loons in large numbers breakfasting there. Squirrels would run toward me to see if I had any nuts for them, which I usually did, tucked in my pockets. It was a good reason to take a momentary break from pounding the pavement. That lush sanctuary was a soothing and comforting scene to start my day. Thanks for the trip back to those wonderful mornings of running in my Florida home. Yep, I can see why you would think that tree was giving all the birds the finger..heh heh!!
Take care,
Sherry

This is the second time I've
seen the word "Egret" used in
a write on this den. The first
time was my poem ...
"On Wings Of The Egret".

Did you know that their
droppings are so full of
uric acid that everything
they choose to shat upon
either dies or ends up stunted.

To me that would be a great
metaphor for some writers I've
had the displeasure of meeting.

You're right about the finger
thing sugar chum. (-:

What is funny too, is all the white stuff under the bird, so it's been going on for a long time. Cute poem. The tree is definitely not waving hello. ROFL.
