Poem Artwork

I went into the dark forest deep
Sat on the stump of an oak tree
Felt a trance coming over me
And in no time I was asleep

A woodpecker nearby tapped
A message to alert the area
That an alien was sighted there
So be watchful and beware

Soon the birds spread the message
In rap fashion they sang off key
All should watch this Jezebel to see
She hurts no one nor causes damage

Soon a  quartet of horned owls
Came dressed in black cowls
To read the Jezebel her rights
And warn her of the forest nights

Some squirrels and rats, toads and bats
Yelled at her for coming to sacred grounds
They flew in her face calling her a disgrace
Saying humans never did know their place

Two wolves howled her an ancient tune
Of how woods survived under sacred moon
Then told her she should take more care
And promise to never again venture there

I awoke as two deer escorted me out of there
Taking me to where I had started my journey
Strongly warning me to remember my promise
Out of my trance thinking, which is fact or fancy

Fascinating write, Eileen. I love your "trance" or "dream" experiences and realities. They are wonderfully freeing and revealing. Love the honesty here. I too feel so castigated and scorned, at times, when I intrude on animals' natural territory - and perhaps rightly so. We have so many Sika deer here on the heath and their faces DO truly wear the most alarming scowl! On the other hand, an awesome stag graced me with his abiding presence the other day, moving through the underbrush in tandem with my walk along a solitary path... Think he was eyeing up my potato chips! :)) Love Kate xx

love how in tune with the natural world you always are. "Forest" speaks to the barriers that remain to we human folk, largely due to our own undoing of the natural order. go and sit again (I know you will). Dawn

Eileen,

This one is sad, because it's a nightmare come to life: we've encroached on their homes, their property, and take it as ours. Invaders, we humans are. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

And I agree with Mr. Ed. Give them another chance. :)

Their distrust of humans sadly grows by leaps and bounds these very sad days. But give them another chance, Tiger Lily, and when they read your soul, they will welcome you!

A minx ejected out of a forest? Unheard of. I'll turn into a lawyer and make case for you. Lovely dreamlike poem. Victor

Four deer were on the back 4 acres. Sounded like a Bobcat was after them.
Bobcats sound like a crying baby to me.
Love all you do Ms. Eileen

I have seen how the birds call to each other as a cat is spotted and every feathered bird is put on alert. Great art work that supplements the poem.

I got a great laught at this one! Enjoyed, your graphics rival anessa's -- how did you do it, is it original? Couldn't seem to get the player to play (if that's music)
