I can only imagine the feeling that someone goes through as they find all their possessions have been destroyed by a terrible fire. No way to replace those prize items, passed on from one generation to another. As devastating as it may be, we may never have the answers to all the questions of why or who, but we have to trudge on through and find a new beginning, accepting the end.

Through The Flickering Flames

The sounds from the shrill sirens,
Were heard for miles away,
It meant that someone was hurting,
In some big dangerous way.

Through the thick flickering flames,
That seem to reach the sky,
As only ashes lay on the ground,
Kept the firemen asking reasons why.

What has caused this disaster,
Something mysterious has gone wrong,
There was no one close to the building,
The family was all out of town.

Through the ashes, they found a picture,
Of someone very old and dear,
Someone who lived with them shortly,
But haven't been around, now for years.

By it lay a blackened piece of jewellery,
Known well by all the family,
Could it be so , has she come back,
To cause this terrible tragedy.

The search for clues soon came to an end,
With only one thought in the case,
They'd rather let go, then fight with the dead,
Resting blame on that deathly face.

I have never experienced something so tragic, and never want too.

Ninety-nine percent of life is a mystery and the jury is still out in that remaining one percent. Your poem is stirring.

STirrring tale for sure and the ghostly presence sends chills down the spine as I read this wondering what were the reasons for the spirits anger or hatred to cause such tragic results. Well written with very vivid images painted with words fromm a palette of imaginations best.

I have to echo the statement made by Reg. This though, is a compelling story...very nice pen!

I used to think that I would be devastated by such as you describe until my home was broken into and they stole so many "meaningful" things including my personal journal. After that, I realized that "things" are just that. I would hate to lose all the words that I've written, though. You made me think, Rose. Thank you. Love and peace to you and blessings of all that is good too,

Regis

Scammed by MORGAN ST. JAMES

Revenge is Fun series. Millions of dollars are missing from the Venice Canals HOA and so are the Vice President and Treasurer. Were they kidnapped? Where is the money? Twists galore and a surprise ending with humor along the way.
