Who is this person
Inhabiting my body?
I don't know her
Anymore.
She is daring,
Sensual,
And determined
To make something
Of herself.
Disappearing
Into the distance
Is the person
Who watched life
From the sidelines,
And who allowed fear
To direct her every move.
The pretty face,
Once bare of enhancement,
Now sports a new look:
Eyes smudged
With smoky color,
Lips red with gloss,
And uneven skin tone
Balanced skillfully
With foundation and blush.
She chooses her clothes
With consummate care,
Refusing funerary colors
In favor of brights
And cheery pastels,
And softly tailored lines
Over shapeless ugliness.
She, I, am stepping out,
With manicured nails
And pedicured toes,
Ready to take the world
By storm!
This is so wonderfully-cheerful and uplifting. The words from this poem are spun out like magic as if they had been struck by a magic wand!!! Lovely powerful imageries and feelings indeed!!!

Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
