Reaching tentatively
Into the unknown
For the snippet
Of an old, old dream.
Does he exist?
Is there someone out there
Who can love me
And cherish me
Despite my foibles?
Who can see all the good
I've worked so hard
To see in myself?
I am so frightened inside
Yet I can't stop hoping
That all those voices
From ages past,
Who said
No one would want me
And listed the reasons why,
Were lying,
For I have so much to give
And to share
With the right person,
And life isn't getting
Any longer.
