Then disappeared
From my life,
And I am at once
Filled with warmth
And remorse.
You never knew
How desperate I was
During those teen years,
How close to death
I often was.
You simply recognized
That I was hurting
And you offered your friendship
Selflessly,
Generously,
And once
With a great slab
Of chocolate cake.
Dear, sweet Jeff,
I now wonder
How and where you are
And o how I wish
I could finally thank you
For helping
To keep me alive.
