Tomorrow will be
A big day for me,
My first real test
Of all I have learned
In the past seven months.
There will be
Two big meals
Spent with family,
Meals I once indulged in
With careless abandon,
Racking up the calories
And the pounds
With no thought
Of tomorrow.
Luckily for me
Neither will be
Beneath my own roof
So leftovers
Should be non-existent
And I can walk away
With little temptation
And even less guilt.
Maybe now
I will be able
To focus instead
On the Macy's parade
Along with
My many blessings
While consigning the food
To a footnote
In my daily journal.
