Bedless

I needed a new bed,
One smaller, more intimate,
And better suited
To my limited space,
So I ordered one
And they promised
To deliver it
Today;
This morning I gave away
My old bed
To a man
Truly down on his luck,
And, pleased that
I had helped someone,
Busily took the opportunity
To deep clean my bedroom
And rearrange the furniture
To make the most
Of the area now opened
To decorating possibilities.
Then I rested,
And I waited.
And waited.
Hours passed
With no word
Until I finally called
Shortly before closing
To inquire about the delay,
Only to discover
That the home office
Had failed to complete
The order
And the bed would not be delivered
Until one week from today.
So now I am bedless
And my nights are consigned
To hours spent
In my recliner.
I fear my back
Will never forgive me!
Why hadn't I invested
In a top-of-the line
La-Z-Boy?

What? No one has invited you to come to their house and sleep in their (spare) bed? For shame! Well, as they say, no good deed goes unpunished.

Ha, these things happen. How many times, I cannot count, that I have found myself without my little bed. Enjoyed. John

Oh no. But you did a good deed. I sleep in the recliner watching late movies sometimes. Good read.
