Watch them fly
From sale to sale
And store to store
Like a strange strain of
Winter bee
Born in late November
And nearly extinct
By New Years.
Some are friendly
And tolerant
Of others of
A peaceful like mind;
But some,
(Oh dear!)
Are certainly of
The more aggressive line,
Knocking the peaceful ones aside
With grunts and curses,
And the occasional sting,
In their quest
For the latest “IT” gift
Or the last of
The fifty inch TVs
For fifty dollars.
Where is the Christmas spirit
Among all the buzzing?
I suppose we must look
To Dickens for that;
Because, today,
The reality is
It's a holy war filled with
Minor battles
In which I loathe
To enlist.
It is, unfortunately,
A dog eat dog season
And I'm wearing milk bone
Underwear!
