We met on the eve of
A new moon,
Do you remember?
We were
Youngsters still,
Yet
We felt the spark
That fueled
Our young romance
And led us to Love
So we eventually met
Before God
And pledged ourselves
Forever after.
It was the same spark
That brought us laughter
And that buoyed us
Through sorrows,
It brought us a family,
It made for us
A home.
And now it brings us
Here, where we are
In the twilight
Of our lives
With gray hair and lines
And decrepit old bones,
Where still,
Despite it all,
Our spark lives
With flickers and flames,
Still fueling our romance,
Ever warm,
Ever loving,
Ever after.
I know only one couple like this, and they are soon notching 74 years of marriage. She finally gets to write the checks to pay the bills. He can barely use his hands. She's as sweet as honey. He's as sour as a bag of lemons. What's my point? Darned if I know!
I hope they were able to read your poem of tribute to them. There certainly is some magic, some spark to those marriages that start so young, yet endure through all the trials that live places before us. I've known a few couples like that, making it all the way to three quarters of a century. But they are rare, especially in this time of high divorce rates.
Indeed, there is something beautiful about a long-lasting relationship that continues to thrive through thick and thin. It is a rare commodity in this day and age. Nicely rendered.
Nobleman's son, Todd Ramble, returns home after years abroad and finds himself falling in love with his step-sister, who was now a grown woman. Unfortunately their love is brutally challenged by his tyrannical father.
