“He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has.” (Epictetus)
Here we are
Making the best
Of a dangerous
Situation,
Where we must all
Stay home,
Protecting ourselves
And each other
From sickness
And possible death.
Our home,
Once thought to be
Large and roomie
Enough,
Has become like
A matchbox,
Our patience
Like tinder
Awaiting
A fire.
Yet,
Despite these things,
We hold on to
One another,
You and I,
Respecting our boundaries
And giving us space,
Keeping our hearts
Entwined
And united;
We are
Grateful
We have
One another,
That we can still
Hope,
Touch,
And love,
Can still dream
And plan
For a future
Some day;
We remain
Grateful
For each other, and
Grateful
We remain
Safe--
Together.
Perhaps what we have learned, and what you show in this poem, is really how closely connected we are and must remain so, especially during a time like this when we are so closed off from each other. Nicely expressed what we all feel.
