Poem Artwork

Embers glow deep
Within her,
Waiting for what
She was warned
Would never come.
They offer warmth,
Comfort,
Light from
The dark,
Yet
They are not
Bright enough,
Not hot enough,
Simply not enough
To be deemed
Worthy.
So as the years pass
Without tinder to
Keep them burning,
They slowly fade
To gray ash
Before vanishing
Into the cold,
Winter wind.

A meaningful poem, the theme of which many will relate to.

On a symbolic level, a very sad poem, but on a practical level, this is what happens with embers. They eventually die to dust.

Oh those dreams we had! What happened to those dreams? Our passion was so great. And we kept the embers alive for as long as we could. But, like everything in every lifecycle, there comes a time when those fiery passions gradually go out and eventually die like we do, sometimes not even fulfilled.

Your poem gets one thinking of what is important in this life and what fires should be fed with all our might.

Whatever burns within us needs to be kept fed , otherwise as you said, the fire burns out, and we're left in the cold.
