I hear the call
Of the restless night and
Follow it from
The warmth of my bed out
Into the haunting light
Of a winter moon.
In the distance I hear
The mournful howls
Of a wolf pack,
And from a nearby tree
The booming hoo
Of a great gray owl.
I listen further and
Hear on the wind
Whispers
Promising deliverance from
My constricted conditioning,
And the reckless release of
The passions kept locked
Within my heart.
I feel the power of
My womanhood and wonder
If there is a man, somewhere,
Who is strong enough,
Brave enough,
To set me free and
Risk the conflagration
Of my unbridled
Desire.
Wow! Very moving. If you haven't found him, there IS someone out there for you. Hopefully the man will be strong enough because I can tell by your writing you are a deep & loving person given the correct soul mate.
Actors, imposters, and very weary poets often overstate their mood, their feelings, or their circumstances for their rhetorical effect and to make a point abundantly clear. Methinks the lady doth protest too much. But I could be wrong. ==smiles==
I certainly like the freedom expressed in this poem. But the ending would scare any man willing enough to come close when you are in this desire expressed!
