And over four years for Shawn Hornbeck,

God saw fit to return them to their families unharmed.

At least on the outside “unharmed.”

They have been hounded by the media

Who is always looking for a new angle to an event—

Even Oprah was able to get an interview with Shawn

While still others have tried for hours for just a few minutes spent

Listening to both boys’ stories.

I think it shameless, ruthless and gutless

For Devlin to says he’s not guilty unless

There are mitigating circumstances surrounding this story.

I think it more shameless for someone to get first chance

For a story which helps to open sweeps month on TV’s dance

For ratings as the best.

Perhaps there is more to the story than is being told,

But who are we to judge when God is the only One who can do that?

His ratings are always right.
