On a summer night deep in the country
The coal black sky holds the stars and the moon
Now in the quiet hear the dancing loons
The stars their lanterns, a night canopy
Watching loons waltzing is pure ecstasy
Gliding all around wings spread as they spoon
Doing tonight what they won’t do at noon
In awe see them dance for eternity
Tonight to sheer romance we are reduced
Here close my arms they are open to you
This soft glowing heart will hear no excuse
Under the moon and the stars I’ll hold you
In a warm summer waltz meant to seduce
Loons will stop dancing to watch me and you.
Sharron what a gorgeous poem. I love the pic and the poem is outstanding wonderful twist in the end;-)I also love to hear the loons, it's been too long...

Your verse is terrific, Sharon, and I love that loon shot.
It looks like so many familiar "real life scenes" in N. Wisconsin,
and one I "shoulda" painted, if I wasn't so enamored of the written
word.
Sharron, I can't believe we both posted loon poems today! I covered the morning, you covered the evening, and your poem is extremely lovely. I guess we are both LOONY! Loved this.
Her grandma always said she had “the blessing”, and to always use it for good, but sometimes there is shame in fame if a person can’t handle it. Don’t let the Boo Hag ride ya

Loons are some kind of duck?
Wonderful picture
Lurve ya!
