Bloody Pen

Just a random thought.

Curse this job I befell

For it was one handed to me

This mind a deadly tool

And this pen held is bloody

The names I place on this tablet

The names this pen will write

Place those men into battle

Right on the front line to fight

So here in my chair I sit

Looking beyond the window sill

Watching play all of the children

Of those men I have to kill

Damn what a bloody pen to write

What men should live or die

The weight of this decision

Crushes tears out of my eye

Will the good lord ever forgive me

Will he be able to take back this sin

So suddenly a revelation did hit me

And threw I caution to wind

Onto the battlefield running

Threw I the names I had penned

I stood on the frontline to fight

For I’ve not a family to tend.

Your pen to write this poem is bloody too. Great poem of conscience, striking, well thought out, and nicely penned.

Wow...I wouldn't want that "Bloody Pen"! One never knows where the mind will take them if they have the mind to get them there...
Excellent!

Crissy,

That's one burden I would never want placed upon my shoulders. When one actually thinks about it it's a lonely job being at the top and undoubtedly thankless.

Fantastic write...I have many takes on this write...for a moment I thought of a political leader whom was making the decision of sending our young men and women to war...then I thought about those that volunteer to serve our country because they have no family or no one to really care...interesting and very powerful write my friend, a very thought provoking write indeed...another thought is life, life is often like a war going on within ourselves, and a battlefield on the outside! Wow! This will be one that will provoke thoughts for a while...enjoyed, you write on my friend for you are a talented young lady!
Blessings,
Joyce Bowling

Death comes to those who's time is up, a date established even before one is born, so my view of this poem is that someone is chosing people who should go to war and get killed. Great perspective. Victor

The ones that do make the decisions should go themselves or send there children to war. They sit back and say yes 'cause it looks good for them and they still get a paycheck. Thanks for sharing Crissy.
Well done,
Michael

Very well written, Crissy. My thoughts exactly. We should only go to war when our freedom is threatened and end it quickly. The blood is on the hands of those who send.

I really enjoyed this. My first thoughts were that this came from the thoughts of politcal leaders as they sent soldiers off to war, but I agree with Art's view below as well.

Interesting write...it displays kinda like the view of the Spirit called Death and how he writes and takes the many who fall within the battles of life and the places of war...
