Attended a Poetry Workshop hosted by Agnes Meadows, a British poet.
The first poem, "I Am a Poet," is the original; the second, "I Dream," is the revision.
She wanted to know where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do with my words, my artistic visions, and had me re-work the poem.
Very educational!
"I AM A POET" i am a poet surrounded by the words i love: i breathe them in and dream in verse, coloring and changing my world with artistic flair: creating laughter in the midst of tears, painting beauty where there is none, causing serenity in war-torn lands - and when i'm done i sit back and take it all in: the place that i have made - i want to take you there.
I dream in verse: technicolored, a rainbow of artistic visions taking me to - ALASKA! To the northern lights: I will dance with them, walzing sinously over the mountains. They help celebrate my dreams with thunderous applause! I feel ecstatic as they share in my spectacular reflection.
Ooooo - like me Karla!! I was very resistant to the idea of "revision" before I went to school, but it's amazing how the raw material can be reworked to have so many different, technicoloured facets, isn't it?! Yup, those Northern Lights just HAD to be in there, didn't they?! But of course! You take us RIGHT there - always, Lady! TY and enjoy! LOL Kate xx

Both poems are as spectacular as the Northern Lights themselves, Karla. I think that you are just a bit more clear and your verse a bit more clean in the revision. In the original poem, you had a dream, in the revision, you lived that dream and took us along for the ride. Great work, Karla.

In the original (which is very good, by the way) you tell everything, how you feel and what you do. In the revision, you show it to us. This one is so much better. You take the reader with you. Very nice.
The poetry workshop WAS interesting, but I still say I will leave poetry writing to those who can do it (like you; you do it so well!)! Very nice work on both the original and the revised poems; may your muse forever soar!! BRAVA!!
