i try to run; the thunder finds me;
it finds my hiding spot; no longer
safe in my bed am i--
i try to outrun the lightning; but
lightning is far too quick for me (how
do you outpace the sky?)--
the wind, the rain; the storm on my heels;
time slows down to a crawl; no escape;
something outside goes, creeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee--
shivers make their home on my spine; the
power goes out; it's dark; I'm getting
scared--I want my Mommeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

(c) 2006, Karla Dorman.  (10/24)

Eerie and spooky recall of childhood fears and the calming affect that only mothers and fathers can provide.

Ah Ha, Karla, bet you forgot to say your bedtime prayers or had a heavy late-night snack! If that were the case, I'm not surprised you had such a baaaaad dream! :)
You do amuse me with your clever writes, Karla.

God Bless

Lena

You had me fooled on this one Karla. I thought is was going to be about some awful stuff you experienced. But then again, I guess if your a kid, it doesn't get worse than that. Enjoyed

How well you bring up the memories of when we were kids and were so scared of the storm! Very scary, taut poem; you capture the fear well! BRAVA, Karla!
