old men
gathered
at the
local
coffee
shop with
nothing
to do,
nothing
but time
on their
hands,
spend their time
enjoying
their free times
now that they're
retired...
they can sleep
in late, get
up when they
want to, they
don't have to
keep to a
schedule. they
remember old
friends, friends that
longer join them in
conversation
because they've passed
on, or else they
are sick or are
hospitalized
with one ailment
or another. "have you
heard how bob is
doing?" they ask.
they remember their
growing up years...how
everything was much
simpler then, and
how much harder this
world has become since
they were younger men.
they did not backtalk
their parents...they knew
better (not like these
young kids of today).
these old men gathered,
they don't ever recall
times being so hard like
they are now...what is the
world coming to?? some
are war heroes. they tell
stories of their courage
and exploits on the field
of battle, and they still
would fight for our nation
if given half a chance
today. old men at the
coffee shop...with nothing
on their hands except time.
