Karen's illness brought an unexpected bonus: reconciliation of family.
Love came in the form of a phone call, one across the miles, one that melt'd years of bitterness and hurt from the heart; wast'd years of anger and hurt calv'd off of a heart so frozen it forgot the meaning of family. I wish it had happen'd years ago, before the ice age set in.
Thank God you let go of the grudge. Joyce Meyer did a cassette series about bittness, resentment, & unforgiveness that is hard to swallow at times; but the relief is better than barking spiders!!!!!!!!!! :) Fantastic write.
Love

How well I understand this intimate piece of writing, Karla!
I have gone through the same 'tunnel' in my family history travel,
as well. Even a small 'melting' of that ice can give courage and hope.
Beautifully written.
Prayers to Karen for good health from now on, and to you, as well.
Hugs,
Anna Marie
It seems to happen like this often. You were blessed. Sometimes illness makes a rift greater, but it's such a wonder when it works magic to join. Enjoyed the poem, Karla. ~~Nordette
the theme is good to hear, Lady Buckeye...and yes, sometimes it takes a close call in life to bring things back into focus. This is well done my friend.
Sometimes it takes a long time for a hard head and an icy heart to let go of ego and understand that family is what is most important, even if you never see eye to eye. At least you have been blessed to have your twin, that is a bond stronger than any other and probably a most saving grace. The New Year will be brighter with the cloud of discontent and sadness lifted from your soul.
Take care,
Sherry
It is sad but true and in my 50 plus years I have seen it more than once, and when it happens the reconciliation of loss or possible loss besides the refound love is the sadness of all that time lost that could have been memories made.
Great write my friend, cleverly written, I love the use of ice within the poem...sometimes it takes an eye opener to bring people back together...glad to see you back at the den, we've missed you. Hope you had a great Christmas.
Blessings,
Joyce Bowling
Yes, Karla, the important thing is that the ice has melted. Now the present and the future can be much brighter. I'm truly happy for you all round. Lovely poem!
I've just returned from an eleven day cruise and am now trying to get caught up with my reviews. I trust Karen is alright now.
God Bless. Hope you had a lovely Christmas...here's wishing you a blessed and save New Year.
Some of us wait and pray for years before the ice begins to melt.
Let it go, let it melt, God will warm the heart when forgiveness (which is really a choice) is extended. When I feel no love, I can ask the Lord to love that one through me.
I can yield it to God and forgive by an act of my will.
If I am willing, it is His work to heal the relationship.
God bless you and yours. He will see you through the difficulty.
Love, Connie
Oh boy can I relate to this Karla. I have come from one of the most fractionalized, disjunct family's ever. We have gone through several seasons of reconciliation in the past - I'm still looking forward to the one that lasts.
Congratulations on yours - what a blessing.

I like the idea of ice as a metaphor. Out of something so terrible as your sister's sick, God can bring some good. Peace and happiness to you both, Karla and Karen. Victor
Sorry it took my being sick to see the family coming back together, but oh, what a relief it is to know we are making up for all those lost years cloaked in bitterness! God is indeed working on our family, and good things are going to come out of this! Wonderful poetry, Karla; keep up the solid writing! BRAVA!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin sister, Karen Lynn. :D
I know the feeling sweet Karla. Once the heart is frozen thawing takes almost a miracle to occur.
Very well penned. I need to go get an afghan now. There's a chill about me.
Love,
Susan with hugs to Karen too.
