So nice to be able to b r e a t h e ! !

Poem Artwork

... Humidity clung to the face,
cloying heavily, like a mask;
lungs spasmed in claustrophobic
heaves, in an attempt to get air
moving in and out.  Allergens
clogged nostrils with thick reminders
of their presence; coughing didn't
help.  What we needed was a good
storm to clear things out -- relief came
on fresh, northerly breezes -- don't
know what you had until you miss
it -- the ability to b r e a t h e ! !

get the kleenex. Who does not want to breathe?

In you neighborhood, it may not do well to wish for storms.

Sometimes the sound level of my sneezing is loud enough to disturb the sleeping people in China.
Allergy.
I am with you all the way from running nose to watering burning itching eyes, brains replaced by cotton and the will of a clam to move
Welcome to the delights of Spring!!!

Karla, if I didn't know better I would think you wrote this in August while visiting Savannah, Georgia! The humidity down here is atrocious in the summer. I like the way you wrote this; I truly felt relieved when I got to the end. Well done!

This write applies to the most basic of all needs, the need for our survival which means air but it also could be applied to so many more things in life we take too often for granted.

Thank heavens the pollen is all gone from here. You've aptly characterized what an asthma attack feels like--I know.

Karla~

"lungs spasmed in claustrophobic heaves"...WOW! What an image! What a feeling! (I think my lung just popped reading that line! LOL *gasp*) The entire poem has a tightness to it, affecting one's thoughts (and breathing!). Very well done; brava~

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :D

The metaphor in this poetry humidifies citrus-scented Truth...a true poet uses metaphor as perfect as you did in this poem, Karla...it is my thought that poetry should not be read, rather, poetry should be analyzed as it is viewed by the reader...it is therapy for one's soul...truly a very philosophical analogy...be well, you two K & K...Blessed Be...
