I asked Momma, "How did you meet Daddy?"
And this is the story that she told me.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
There I was, was feelin' lonely
Was settin' at the local bar,
My ex, it turns out, had a wife
I walked out on him, took the car
Drove around a little while
Couldn't believe he lied to me!
He'd been with her until that fight
I was his rebound, don't y'all see.
So he wined me and he dined me,
Said I was his one and only,
Like an idiot, I believed his words...
Meantime, there's his wife...pissed...lonely.
So I came to this little bar,
Settin here, havin' a few drinks...
Was settin' new priorities,
A couple of beers helped me think
Then *wow* look who walked in the room!
My eyes near 'bout fell to my knees...
A cowboy, the purtiest thing,
Asked me to dance...wow, ecstacy!!
"C'mon, cowgirl, whatcha waitin' for?
C'mon, cowgirl, give me a chance!
Promise I won't step on your boots,
C'mon, cowgirl, c'mon, let's dance!"
He took me in his arms...oh, man...
And he whirled me around the floor...
Said I was best dancer he'd seen...
That's when my ex came in the door!
My ex was livid, was he sore!
"Who is this guy you're dancin' with?
You better git away from him...
You know what's good for you," he hissed.
"Oh, Hon, pretend you don't see him!
I'm havin' the time of my life!
He's on my shit list, don't you know...
Never told me he had a WIFE!"
That's when the shit hit the fan,
Never saw such an ugly mess...
I never saw my ex so mean
I really was scared, I will confess
Then there was a big ol' fight
This hunk my ex thought he could take
My ex found he was overmatched
Takin' on the hunk a mistake!!
The cowboy said, "Git outta here!
Makin' this purty lady cry...
Make you think twice about cheatin'...
Next time don't cheat on your wife!"

Momma and Daddy married that year,
And I was born nine months after,
Daddy was a son-of-a-gun
Our lives filled with joy and laughter.
I miss his presence in our lives,
He died this year at eighty nine,
Gave my Momma some happy times,
I'll always remember Daddy mine.
