Karla,
Sad, yet so beautiful in spirit. It takes a special person to join the military. It is a person who cares about others more than himself or herself. The soldiers and their families give up so much! I know I am grateful. Nicely done! Love and Hugs~

This is the perfect sentiment for a hard reality of war. May all our troops come home safely so their loved ones will never have to endure the pain, even if it is filled with love, of a letter good-bye. ~ Sara

At Arlington, we should replace those stones with trees, for every one of them, because we could then, celebrate the end of a soldier's life with the begining of another life.

Sadly, I guess that's one letter every soldier has got to pre-write and carry in his kit - and when it comes to war, it's there job to go where they're ordered and fight their best, not sit around and argue about the reasons for and against - and that's the hard truth as admininstration keep changing - You express well the pain those left behind must feel when they get that letter - but the joy of reunion in that last paragraph!

This was very heartfelt; it brings to life all the tear-stained letter envelopes most mothers, sisters, aunts, and wives have held close to their hearts.

Splendid letter Karla, because you say what I've heard os many soldiers say, they are proud of what they are trying to do, and hope it will give others the freedom we have while protecting ours at the same time. Bless you, for too many only see the negative side. I hate war, and hope this one is over asap, but I am very proud of our soldiers and the reason they are fighting for.

Karla,

This poem is so sad and yet, so needed in this day and age. I am reminded of Tim McGraw's "If You're Reading This;" a song I dearly love, yet cannot listen to without crying for 20 minutes or so.

I hate the fact that our servicemen and women who do fight for us all, so often come home to less than happy homecomings. Yes, they may be saluted at the forefront, but sadly.... once they return to civilian duties, the fact that they went through war and made it home to tell about it, is often forgotten, as are their needs.

Bless you for your service and God bless all of brave Armed Forces for the selfless work they do!!!

Hi Karla--You may not want to hear this, but I was in the Air Force, too, and was never welcomed upon returning. Often I was treated like the enemy. Better not to come home. This experience is not uncommon among veterans that I have met. But maybe you were one of the lucky ones.

Heartbreaking write that too many military families have faced: getting that letter they wish they never received. God bless our brave men and women in the military and let's support our troops! If it weren't for them, we would not be free and have what we have today! Too many people have forgotten that. Sad!! Powerfully penned tour-du-force!

AH... this one is a tear jerker! So much negativity is put on the armed forces for sending soldiers to Iraq, etc... yet such little is shared about the faith and the reasons these warriors fight. They fight for US...for OUR freedoms, for the rights and freedoms for others in the lands where they are fighting... I am humbled by their dedication and their love for all of mankind. We should be so grateful for their sacrifice...
