I can't believe the same politicians that send young men into war would not do all to be sure their injuries are compensated financially for the sake of their futures and families! Yet, it has been happening since at least the Vietnam years. In the end that's why you have to have organizations like AM-Vets! As I've said politicians make the wars - the young men pay for them!

A hard, hard thing to take-- heart-rending, really-- the things we ask these brave people to do for us, and then the cold shoulder we give them for doing their best-- doling out medals as if they were meals that would last a life time-- as if they were medicine that with just one dose, you'd be cured... sickening! --Charlie

Games played, like these, always end up scattered on the floor with one sorry loser defending his stand on political bull crap, and the other just trying to pick up the pieces...maybe, to savor for nostalgia purposes...?... because, I'm more than positive he dares not play again, even if he could!

Your poem touches the mind and heart, especially of those of us who have friends or loved ones who are war-torn survivors--still trying to survive. For me, this is one of your best, Karla.

~decision-making for people with disabilities is the most inhumane activity our Government participates in to my mind~

each and every tier of disability decision-making is plagued with a concept that you are not disabled enough and it takes years to acquire the much needed benefits that make their best end-result with the most immediacy

with the types of explosives used in this latest and greatest war - according to the men in charge - the loss of limb or rattled brain is the hoped for results of our enemies

the Wounded Warrior program is devised to compensate but is only occasionally awarded to humanitarians and more often awarded to more money hungry contractors - i know i've written the responses

Karla keep the faith - and the perseverance - and penning the reality.

Oh Karla this is so sad but so true, My husband was Military for 28 years and now he is with the Reserves and his job is making sure the Veterans etc. get everything they are entitle to without delay. Too many are tossed aside when they deserve the world on a golden plater. Thank you for sharing.

A War Veteran got his medal forwarded with a bill for handling and posting of $ 57.39, he returned the damn thing unpaid.

Our government is full of greed, and unbelief. God will judge the unrighteous, and kick 'em out of office. This is so true. I've talked to a few military vets, and they say the same things written here. Thanks for sharing, Karla.

Oooh, Karla, you're sure to raise some people's blood pressure (including MINE!!) with this heartbreaking slice of reality for far too many of our brave soldiers who gave all to defend our nation. Too many times the veterans are the ones who end up suffering needlessly while those who do the killing/shooting get off scott-free. Shame on our nation for treating our veterans like they were
expendable! Our veterans (past, current, and future) deserve nothing but the BEST! Very well penned; brava, Karla! This needs to be sent to be shouted from the rooftops: ENOUGH is ENOUGH!!

Let's give our veterans the treatment and respect they RIGHTFULLY deserve!!!!

You know...if I worked fcor the VA I'd be leading the way for our VETS to get top notch medical care immediately. That;s why I don't work there. They full of nepotism emploee realted job/careers. They need to be thoroughly investigated.
These people gave life and limbs while they push a pencil.It's all friggin crazy!
