Jill Eisnaugle's Aunt Debbie from Ohio just sent me an e-mail, letting me know Jill's fine. She asked me to pass the word on.
Jill had to evacuate Texas City to avoid Ike; she's in east Texas, waiting word she can go back home. Some damage: a chimney fell, going through the roof. But at least Jill still has a home!
Keep Jill in your prayers: she is a valuable asset to the Den family.

Thank you for this. My Aunt read your poem to me over the phone while I was still at the hotel in Lufkin, but getting the chance to see the damage we sustained and in turn, getting to read your words, firsthand, made all the difference. You certainly said everything I was thinking.
That first day in Lufkin, once Ike moved inland, we were without power in East Texas and I was frantically trying to find any word about Texas City. I called Lufkin area radio stations, since the TV was dead, and finally called my old pals at SUNNY 99.1 in Houston to learn that Texas City survived fairly well.
Our home, and mainly our living room, sustained roughly $80,000 worth of damage. The furniture in the room is completely destroyed and we came home to find a 5 foot pile of rubble in the living room. We still have a 5 foot piece of chimney in the living room, against the fireplace. When all is said and done, we'll have a new roof, a new living room, and all new furniture, but we're still better off than many people, especially many of Galveston's residents.
Despite my own losses, my heart breaks more for those who haven't been able to return to Galveston to inspect their losses and more still for those who have lost their lives, including one of my Mom's co-workers. Our house is bruised, but we still have four standing walls and all of our windows. More importantly, we still have our lives. Things can always be worse!
Take care and thanks to everyone who thought of me, during my time away. Please continue to keep my family in your thoughts and prayers as we do the admirable deed of rebuilding!
Thank goodness Jill is okay, things can be replaced, and roofs can be reparied, but peoples lives are precious, and Jill is a special friend to many of us here at the den, the Lord is good and merciful keeping her safe...

May God bless everyone!!! I'm still missing one of my friends. Pier Tyler still hasn't got back to me yet, so I don't know if she's well or not. I'll keep checking.
May God bless and watch over Jill and everyone involved in this deadly hurricane and may the rebuilding begin to put all back to the way it was, or better. Keeping all in our thoughts and prayers....
So happy to know that Jill is okay; and I know this poem will touch her; it did me! Beautiful, heartfelt concern for a hurting friend; let's all keep Jill and all those affected by the hurricane in our prayers and thoughts!
