is: to the forgetting of heroes who
served. The Veteran's Day sales,
though, continue, extended for
your shopping pleasure. And
don't forget, Christmas around the
corner. Shame. How soon we
forget honor. Sacrifice: until it
blows up in our face with the
announcement two troops have
died: two more, gunned down in
Iraq. Two more families that will
hear the knock on the door. Two
more that will lay their loved one
down under the sound of "Taps."
Two more that will be handed the
flag as rememberance: their voice
stilled, forever. Their blood cries
out to be heard. Multitudes more
injured, with wounds that will
haunt them the rest of their lives.
Families, left behind. The cost can't
be measured in dollars: war and
pain don't take time off; no discount
for our soldiers, sailors, airmen on
duty twenty four seven, three sixty
five. For our Veterans, who came
home; for those who did not: money
can't buy. Should be remembered
every day, not when convenient ....
So right Karla -- their honor must be recalled everytime we freely do anything we want without the fear of repression from evil's intervention -- well said dear lady -- peace and love to you -- JMW
Thanks Karla, this day too, along with other special days that we celerate an honor will one day fall by the wayside. Our culture, way of life is slowly, calculatively being erased by diversionaly tactics and I have for a number of years found it to be very unsettling. No, I never make my way to the stores on holidays no matter how great an inticement it may be....
If it were up to me - ALL OUR TROOPS would be brought Home, to American Soil - MAN the Mexican Border until a WALL is completed - AND let some of them do CONSTRUCTIVE work, helping out in Areas devastated by Floods, Tornadoes, and other freaks of Mother Nature. Clearing debris, building homes, helping unfortunates that were displaced - AND - rotating periodically - visiting their OWN LOVED ONES!
As the widow of a veteran I applaud you Karla. It really ticks me off when I see or hear ads for Veterans Day specials. The commercial market treats it like a holiday to celebrate intead of a day of remembrance and honoring. I like Felix's idea below.
You have truly made the point that we must remember and honor these men every day...not just on one day....but Karla, life does go on...and it wouldn't if it had not been for their heroism...This is a wonderful writing as usual...you honor them well... lindalaw
So right you are and sometimes I question the value of having one day as a Rememberence day instead of people getting a day off with pay maybe the employees should consider working that day and donating that one day's pay to the Vetrens' funds.

Absolutely spot on, Karla!!! Over 4 thousand dead now, and so many damaged, all so we can help some Sunnis and Shiites who really do not like us a lot. I would like to see all our Iraq/Afghanistan troops moved to northern Pakistan to take out Osama bin Laden and his Jihadis (whether Pakistan likes it or not) and then bring our people home. I have a client, a female Army medical person, who works in a huge German hospital which serves the battle-zone wounded. The horrific things she sees every day are never (?) in our news. We need to bring those soldiers home now. And, like you said, we need to spend every blessed day remembering their needs.
