wards in tiers: stacked in trinities of
pain and suffering on the inside of a
medi-vac, coming home. Glory did
not greet these heroes: protest and
anger were added to the burdens they
carried. Think we would have learned
after all these years, but as often has
been said, those that forget history are
condemned to repeat it. Seeing it now,
in the apathy directed at our troops and
Veterans, unless convenient. Vietnam
all over again: not in steaming jungles
but on burning sands, in our backyards:
they have enough to deal with, the
wounds of war. They will not heal if
we wrap them in bandages of shame ...
Support Our Troops--not our politicians unless the politician is honest with the people--not unless our politicians uphold the values of our Founding Fathers--not unless our country returns to its roots, the land. Thanks for the words you have written in Bandages of Shame.

I hope you are wrong and we will not treat any more of our soldiers...either American or Canadian as the Viet vets were treated.
We lost more of our Canadian soldiers last week and when the bodies rolled down the highways towards their burial it was reported the hightway was lined on both sides with people who came out to show their respect...now if we can only get the governments of our countries to respect our fallen and injured.
Caught up into a web of poverty, jobless they attend the Army recruiting centre. Make friends and comrades, endure hard training. Take orders and eat meals, relax when permitted and prepare to be on guard at all time. Twenty three successful sortees in Helmand Province; many enemy killed but on the twenty fourth day he too is killed. He dies a hero in sand and on the concrete village square beside his mourning Member of Parliament and family, his sister feels it most. His mother is more reflective. "He had a job at last. He did it to the best of his ability. He would have had it no other way."

serve and obey orders from whoever is in command, and they do their duty with heart and mind, they deserve only due respect...and care.
Bandages of Shame WOW - So well said Karla. I say those who don't respect our brothers and sisters in uniform who have risked their lives so that freedom will reign should be the ones to wear those Bandages of Shame. Those are the people who bring shame to all of America. Love this Karla. Should be published on the front page of every newspaper across all America. You go my friend and God bless.
