Orange colored screams tinged by purpled hands of rage slap cheeks
wet with tears, along with words of
shame & failure: You'll never be
anything but - you'll never be a n y
thing - you'll never be. Think
before destroying a child's dreams: it
will haunt them the rest of their lives,
encasing their heart in ice, freezing them
in place so that they go nowhere ...
Parents suck. That is why I never wanted to children. I didn't want to do to mine, what my parents did to me. The same song, telling me I was stupid and would never be anything. I hated life for most of it and have still not learned how to live. Excellent poem. And by the way, you are something. ~ Sara

Expert use of color and type enhancement to push this vital message to the top. Very well done, Karla :-)
Parents are the first and most trusted source of information for a kid -- about the world -- and about themselves. Too often, parents destroy the life of their child, using nothing but ugly words. It took Patty many years to undo the damage done by her mother -- through three abusive marriages because she believe she did not deserve anything better. Parents are sometimes the worst thing that ever happens to a kid.
Introspective, powerful and wise. Words can hurt deeply when they are given from one close, think before uttering a word, a life may be saved because of it....
Yes it will! Wisdom in this dear Karla. All I can say is been there and experienced that. Got beyond it though, somehow, in Gods grace, hallelujah, but it left scars. So be it! Don't plan on slidin into home plate lookin pretty.
Blessings ...
I am sorry you had these memories, but you know what, whoever told you this, needs to be slapped upside the head, because you are an amazing poet, and an amazing person, dont let anyone tell you any differently.

I watched a scene similar to this once, and couldn't help but want to go cradle the child-- hope lost from their eyes... so sad, Karla. --Charlie
