the teacher's mad...i've never heard him yell that way
in trouble...again...seems this time i'm gonna pay

with that i report back to monster trainin' class
i ain't doin' so good...i may not even pass

i've only taken this course three times in a row
the other monsters tease me, 'cause i'm so slow

mama and daddy monster did the best they could
but i'm just not catchin' on like they think i should

i wanna make 'em proud...be the best i can be
it's hard when you were born so darn cute and furry

do all right in books--heck, i've memorized 'em all
it's when i take my tests my teacher is appalled

the kids i'm supposed to scare think that i'm a toy
they treat me with kindness, and teach gets so annoyed

'cause when i'm in their arms, i feel safe and secure
my monsterish ways are tempered by love so pure

i wish some little boy or girl would take me home
this monster's sick of scarin' if the truth be known

but i can't let teach know that...not supposed to care
truth is, a monster is only supposed to scare

but i just can't do that...i love those little kids
teach finds out, i fail...this class will be invalid...

hey!! that's the ticket! i think i'll tell my teacher!
"i am not a monster, those kids need a reacher!"

i know, i know...he'll get all mad and he'll explode
(that's the fourth teach we've had...a frequent episode)

well...i told him...he blew up at me, then he blew
my folks understood, said, "follow your heart, be true ,"

so here i am...i keep kids safe, keep them from harm,
cute furry monster captivated by love's charm!
