How can you sit there, on your healthy
high horse and make decisions about
whether or not someone gets benefits,
when you have no clue what it is like to
be disabled? DENIED, because in
your expert opinion, I am not disabled.
Oh, like I want to walk with assistance.
To wear glasses. To not hear everything
that is being said. I wear a colostomy
bag. Do you think I'd choose to live like
this? Try finding a job. Try living in a
normal world when I'm not ... normal.
And you wonder why I have high blood
pressure. Is that what you're waiting
for, for me to pop off, so you don't have
to bother with the likes of me? Sure:
add more weight to my twin sister's
shoulders, a disabled Veteran. Not like
she has enough to carry. What happens
to me if something happens to her? It's
obvious you don't care. You have no clue
what it's like in my world. My disabled
world. Have to jump through narrow
hoops to prove I need Social Security.
Keep writing your concerns about disabled rights because so many do not know what people with disabilities have to go through just to live each day, let alone be productive and healthy.

When I applied for disability Social Security the first question I encountered was whether or not I was employed. When I told them I was employed, they told me, a quadriplegic, that I was not disabled. According to the law, in order for me to be disabled, I couldn't be working.
I knew this was a common misconception because so many disabled people don't work that many think that all disabled people don't work. Therefore, our intelligent Congress defined disability as someone unable to work. Nothing could be further from the truth, but the misconception prevails and the law prevented me from getting Social Security until I reached the current age for my birthdate. I now have Social Security and am grateful for it.
Karla, our government has exercised their perceived right to defraud the American populous of the tax money we pay into Social Security and Medicare along with all of the regular federal taxes they collect from us. Social Security was for too long under the desires of Congress. They used it as their personal checking account to squander away for political Pork Barrel projects and the financial prop for Welfare. Now, they also are giving Social Security to illegal immigrants who have paid nothing into the system. If you are an average American including disabled vets, expect little to nothing from the system you supported your entire working career. They, the politicians are giving it all away to buy votes from illegal immigrants and to pay the salaries of Asian and Central American workers here taking government contracted jobs from Americans. It is unfair, Karla, I totally agree. It just amazes me how people (able body) can receive SS benefits and those with disabilities can't. Hang in there! :(
