When Karla says "I'm tarnished" the fire must be shivering with cold. Karla, my sister and frined in America, you are a real jewel and you don't need a polish simply because you shine and glitter under any medium.

Like your sister said, you do shine, but if you find yourself just a bit darkened by the constant warmth, polishing compound will do it nicely, and make you reflect all that is good about both of you!
