The fog is really dense like the fabric of obscure dream

I can hardly see before my eyes
Yet I can still see into the reflective quintessence
Of my thoughts forming on the misty sky

I focus on the obscurity of shapeless forms
Seen in the distance
And find myself wondering where I am heading

Wondering who is peeking through the shadows
Wondering what is coming out from the outlying shore

Probably just a phantom in my mind

Maybe something more like a revelation
Imported in from every direction

Surrounding me with its intangible presence

Yet explaining itself within a haze of clarity
Beyond a breeze of belief

Your title is what drew me to this poem and I am glad it did. What deep emotional thought. It is as though you wrote my words for me.

Great write.

wow... it was really foggy here awhile ago... couldn't see the city skyline at all from my building at work... as nasty as it was outside, at least it inspired you... great writing...

Making the intrigues of the intangible visible can be a major challenge but this poem does that and quite a bit more very well.

Sometimes we stumble onto pieces of ourselves, long hidden in the fog. I lived on the side of a mountain once, when the fog settled there you could actually walk off the edge unless your intuition was working properly, thats when we need intuitive perception, in the blinding fog. Wonderful and thought provoking write, Jude.

You must live in New York, because this was what it was like here for the past 2 days:) Now, snow! I like the simplicity of this, makes the word choice really stand out.

I'm poorly sick with a head like candy cotton, so therein lies my fog!! On the other hand, the weather UK has been sunny and spring-like, lifting my spirit with an enduring transcendent hope, so the rough with the smooth, I guess. This poem sounds to me like the womby environment during the gestation period of a poem, but perhaps I just have a one-track mind! Being cloaked and shrouded is good if it is productive and problem-solving - or protective in some way. Otherwise it is a breeding ground for disorientation and confusion, and a relief when it lifts or is pierced. Like the counterpoint with the "haze of clarity beyond a breeze of belief" - both gentle "inklings" that are strong to dispel the heavier presence. A soothing write, somehow, when one's head is sore! Living within a thousand feet of an inlet of Galveston Bay in Texas, I am often welcomed during the early morning hours with the fog. I can compare your poem to life, as well, whether you intended it that way or not, through the sense that the fog can be seen as the distant love, just beyond one's reach, yet unseen in true clarity enough to grasp it. From that standpoint, the poem, to me is quite sad, but I know that "just out of one's reach" feeling, all too well. Great write, Robert. Thank you.

This is a very interesting poem...I like the mysticism in this abstract work, the extended metaphor "shapeless forms" is a symbol of obscurity and as Sherry has already pointed out, sometimes this obscurity or the layers of ether only force us to look beyond with MORE insight!

Abstract thoughts can feel like this. You can sense them, touch them but you can't quite shape them into words. Again you have written thoughts that can be read on more then one level. Great write.

As the fog obscures our physical view, our mind's eye creates visions of its own, echoing our emotions at the time. It reminds me of when I was very young and would turn off the lights to listen to the scary radio programs. With the lights on, it was clear that it was only a voice coming from the box; with lights off, it was a voice from the sky haunting us with messages of doom and destruction. If you are able to just sit in the fog, and have nowhere that you need to go, it can be a lot of fun to watch all the changing kaleidoscopic images, which are created by the fog’s many densities along with your own imagination and creativity. If you have to drive or go somewhere, dense fog can be pretty terrifying.
Take care,
Sherry

We didn't have fog, but we had rain here today, warm weather; much unlike the sleet of ice on ground everywhere yesterday.

You are very creative. I wish I could write about the fog like the way you do. Well-done!
