Poem Artwork

I am wandering through a dense marsh

               trying to get my bearing,

         wondering where am I?

how did I get here?

I am compromised by a new moon,

                  and unusual sounds

scattering about

  I walk on mud flora:

              has an extremely spongy texture,

every step I sink and rise up again

I make my way through this soggy dreamscene

step by step, lunge upon lunge,

when I notice a stone structure not far ahead

                      through the oscillating fogbank

            yes, I can see now,

it’s an abandoned castle

yet there’s smoke rising into the air

I wonder who the fire starter may be

I am drawn to it yet hesitant to move on

suddenly, I am moving across a drawbridge

I look over its railing to see only deep dark ripples

     ahead through an archway

 is a familiar figure

         behind it, a large campfire

glowing green and blue streams of broken light

I begin to wonder how many nights

I will have to walk these dreamy cobblestones

before this fortress is razed to the ground

and the shadowy figure is fully recognized

escaping the current surrounding its walls

Again, I feel you holding back, creating situations that don't let you get into the heart of dream in this first encounter. Mystery is always an intriguing element and sometimes it is nice to leave a little excitement to revisit in the future.
Take care,

spooky, going home , or can you to re-build a fortress , yet again. Eerie is the past and all that is re-kindled. I like the atmosphere!

Home Sweet Home! Fortress to be conquered or safe place to hide? Duallisms abound in your dream juice sequences, Amigo: reticence and compulsion seemingly present in equal measures. Frustratingly, it's the facelessness of the familiar that seems to puzzle, causing prevarication. Your concluding couplet suggests to me the presence of a soul needing or desiring to take flight - not from the flames but within the flames, like a phoenix - requiring, perhaps your help and that is why you are perpetually drawn. Love your spongey mud flora: spot on, couldn't have described it better myself... Can anyone else see that petrified Roundhead figure climbing/hugging the tree in your foreground?! LOL!! Jude, a perfectly versed metaphor -- I would not dwell long nor assess any significant value to the figure coming into focus, and thus being recognized -- in the murky world of dreams and fantasy truth and value are elusive -- thanks for the very entertaining rendering -- I bid you peace and love my dear friend, Jon Michael

The marsh and Castle are metaphors for what you have accomplished in need to accomplish.

A great photo of the castle beyond barren trees. To lend to
the shadow castle a mystery in the shadow of the new moon.
Well done Jude.

...familiar yet unrecognizable... ...moody and pensive yet strangely comfortable... ...enveloped by a friendly fog... ...to bring one face to face with... ...self? ...the idealized self? ...the frail unidentified self? ...or merely an alter ego? ...questions abound... the poem rakes reflection over the coals of classicism... as they spark what seem to be the fires of forever... caught for all time in their own reflection...

A seemingly never-ending walk through murkiness and wonder, i.e., " I walk on mud flora: / has an extremely spongy texture, / every step I sink and rise up again"

That plus an old castle and beyond it is a large, strange campfire (green and blue lights coming from it), plus you are not alone. A man is there, familiar, but . . . . You keep walking wondering how long you must walk before the man is recognizable.

Spooky, man.

Hey Jude, I am honored to be the first to comment on your latest dream juice poem...It interesting that you would have the "New Moon"
in your dream. It sets the tone for eerieness of this dream. At first I was thinking this was going to be a dark gothic type dream, but in actuality it turns out to be very meaningful. Mercury in in retrograde right now, so communication and electronic devices give us some trouble. Missed communication and delays occur often during mercury's retrograde. The last stanza really sums up the dream.
I feel that the figure you are seeing is yourself, and the walls that you dreamt about are your stumbling blocks. The walls that you put up in order to have some harmony in your own life. The fortress is your new home, a home where your heart really is. Keep on dreaming, you certainly know how to retell your dreams in vivid descriptive words.
The photo, that is amazing, and beautiful. It looks familiar to me.

Much peace, light, and love,
Amber

ps, I prefer liquid moon over the New Moon...lol
