~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Evermore
I look deep into your eyes
To see the delicate smile you reveal
So to make my eyes sparkle
As we both can feel
The light of love
Inside our souls
Evermore
I listen to the words you wish to speak
I embrace the devotion
We always seek
I know how well we handle all extremes
And the glorious truth inside our dreams
For we have learned
To teach each other
Evermore
We walk the shores of life
We dream of worlds devoid of strife
We voyage upon distant lands
We are united as we have always planned
We embellish our journey
With a cargo of spices mysterious to man
Evermore
We are bonded by hope
Together we always cope
With the world ravaged by pain
For we have refrained
From ever letting it
Flow through our hearts
Evermore
It seems I have always known
We have grown as one
And so live on
Evermore
you don't read this poem, you feel it - like gently lapping waves upon a shore. it has an eternal quality that rises above the temporal and one can feel the author stretching his soul into that higher realm. beautiful!
As ceaseless as the lapping tides that kiss far-distant shores, there is such an intensity present here, and yet such infinity as well. Effortless, flowing rhyme and verse with such cadence and rest that it is almost mesmeric. A tidal wave of passion expressed with the delicate touch of a whisper... I could go on! ... Vulnerability and openess expressed within a circle of strong embrace. You teach us here how it feels to love. Poetry in motion... divine! :)))) TY Kate xx
this has a classical feel to it but what really impresses me is the deft way you pulled off the refrain...evermore. Writing a poem with a refrain, whether it be a word, a phrase, a couplet or quatrain is not easily done well...but this is excellent.
