When your poems become as smelly as your
socks it's time to get a new muse!;-)

Well, your haiku surely doesn't stink. It's great and once again, you stuck to the nature theme.:>)

I think you just finished writing a great poem and put your feet up to rest and started contemplating if your socks smelled, hey but what do I know if nothing else you certainly stirred a lot of interest and reaction which is the mark of a true artist. Bravo and cheers,

Felix

Either you are trying to tell some of us that our poetry really stinks or you have been tromping through the cow chips again. Interesting write, Robert. Somehow, I am hoping that this is much deeper than what I am reading into it, or perhaps you are just testing us all to see if we really do understand your writing or simply praise you because we know "you be da man." (laffin) The emperor is wearing no clothes?
Take care,
Sherry

Like Katy below, I got a smile out of this, but I can also see something less humorous here...the word, poignance is the key. Good job, Robert

I'm with Katy. Smelly socks, erotic? It's a question I don't ask often. Mostly because I know people who would answer it. Besides, why do smelly socks always have to smell bad? Maybe they just came out of the dryer. Cling-free even!

I'm sorry... people here are suggesting a 'deeper meaning' and even something erotic? sigh... perhaps I'm just doomed to be literal here but I'm giggling at the thought of YOU, Robert, writing about smelly socks... you've tickled me... I'll go now... before I stick my own smelly sock in my dainty, little mouth (grin) ... katy xox.

I would say that Kate is right and somehow do you remember Phoebe's song on Friends. Smelly cat, smelly cat it's not your fault.

... if you've been standing up to your ankles in cow chips, then no wonder! On the other hand, many's the feet of roses which have been liberally coated with some manure or other, in order to promote vigorous growth and the most beautiful of fragrant blooms! Like you said earlier today, there's divinity in cow chips. My, my... how earthy we're all getting... sap must be rising somewhere!! LOL Kate xx

Now this is good - I can see a whole new poetic Haiku direction is rapidly developing for you!

Are you looking for a housekeeper? :-) or have you been visiting ED?

Seriously, this Haiku could be read in more then one way. The way in which you ended it leads the reader into the possiblity that you are paying high respect to someone's poetry. Its a strange way of doing it, but you have always been a man of mystery :-)

LOL at George's comment.
