Dear Jude,
You've revealed your wisdom & insight here. It seems to be part of the human condition to feel the need to be vindicated. You were the greater person and I congratulate you for your maturity.
As always an excellent, thought-provoking poem.

Well I tend to go along with Tiana on this one, whoever this women is seems to be sitting on judgement of you and your personnal values and I can well understand why you walked away too.

If we are not accepted for the person we are, I would have walked away too and never look back ... In a heart beat! I mean, the nerve! "I forgive you for being you?" Oh no way, that would not fly with me. This one struck a nerve, Jude, now you got me all fired up! ;)
Whoa! I am in awe. This beautifully wrought poem has given me new insight on the differences between being weak willed and the controlled strength in being meek. The metaphor 'the blank verse' is stunning in its impact. On a whole this poem is a definite keeper. :)
I once had someone tell me they tried to redeem me, but I wouldn't accept. I thought only God could do that. Forgiveness is in the eye of the beholder.perhaps we misread the intentions. Too bad when that happens for we are all human with traits of deity, but nowhere near that station in our lives. For some it's easier to just walk away .
Recapturing a moment is rarely possible to do. If we can't make a new moment that is worth living then there is no hope for that relationship anyway. As for someone "forgiving" you for being you, that is just wrong. A friend or partner must embrace you for being you. Walking away was the only option, there was nothing left to salvage. Excellent write as always, Robert.
Take care,
Sherry
This maybe causes a twinge of pain in those of us who are still trying to deal with a morbid Jonah Compex; the Mia Culpa mindset. On the other hand, it is an encouragement to be able to see before us in black and white why we definitely shouldn't suffer one, especially at the hands of peeps for whom everything is everyone else's problem. You perhaps demonstrate the true meaning of meekness here: that it is not weakness, but strength reined in and taking the gracious higher road... leaving blank verse to bounce back off the blank walls of a person's own compartmentalised and perhaps blinkered views. And spoken far more adroitly than this review... WTG, Jude!! TY Kate xx

You said “I forgive you for being you"
I hear that all the time too.
Guess some are tourmented inside, needing everyone to love them..
Brilliantly penned, subtle yet so sharp. If someone has to forgive us for being us they leave us no choice but to walk away. What is holy? Who has ALL the truth?
In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!

I recite blank verses all the time, I'm just grateful all I know doesn't walk away.
Enjoyed.
