~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I remember your room laden with wonderful experiences
I still feel the breath of your being
Rush upon my eyes
Like an endless waterfall of cherished moments
Carrying me back
To the time when you last spoke to me
And how my soul was lifted
Into a state of utter grace
I recall how your heart resonated with joy
And articulated to my lips
Quintessential emotions of love and reason
And then in an instant I watched
As your face transformed
Into a lost vessel upon sea of hopeless tomorrows
You suddenly seemed to be faced
With a sense of surrender
A pensive surge
Of sharing hopeful dreams
Surrounded your expression
For you recognized we could not be
Yet with a sense of enchantment
You then smiled and asked me to leave
Yet, only for this lifetime
Only then did I realize
How our death was so mysterious and beautiful
And how I will remember never to forget you
I'm reading sporadically here at AD for the first time in more than a month. I am presently kicking myself under the table--I should have known what I was missing. I've read several of yours, but this one is by far one of the most moving. I think mystery and beauty go hand in hand, usu. with a fair dose of pain thrown in when things matter most in this life. Death when faced with courage leads us to another birth as we move at once deeper into who we are, higher toward who we are meant to be. Dawn
oooooo, that's a magical last line. I have come to know that with quiet, thoughtful resonance, you are able to provide impact AND sighs, all in one piece. For me, it's what makes you special.
I'm always fascinated, enchanted. Your visuals are pastel or earth tones, never loud or technicolor. (smile) katy xox
This one truly made my heart almost burst with emotion. I believe that your mother left you with such a wonderful gift. It causes me despair that you lost her, but would you have gained such a blessed talent otherwise? Absolutely beautiful, Jude. I'm still on vacation, but was getting withdrawals from not reading your poetry.
Robert, I wonder, at times, how you manage to stay focused in this now-world when you 'see' into others. But, I know, really, the choice is not so very difficult when a soul understands Life is a journey, in all its forms and dreams, and Death/Time is quantumed, is a door opening wide, with excitement and expectations of understanding the true nature of 'Soul'.
You've crafted this piece masterfully, gathering your readers into a vacuum where you've stopped time to savor its kiss, sharing its depths. And, its futures.
Waves of recognition tingle my spine. Nordette has named you true, Shaman. This can be no mere coincidence, but of course it is, only so true to my own experience that it seemed as though you read my secret heart...
I may be way off , but I picture this as when you had to leave your mothers womb and her subsequent death. An event that may take many
years to accept before the recognition of your last lines. But then again it is very analogous to a lost love... splendid poem!etw
I believe that our souls travel with the same company throughout our lifetimes. Since each of our lifetimes has a different purpose, I think that our "Completer" may appear but have to leave to comply with the terms of this lifetime. We are touched by the time that they are able to spend with us but realize that, no matter the strength of the connection, for now, it is not meant to be. When they leave, though it can be devastatingly sad, we know that we will carry them with us always and that we will meet again, for they are our Conjoined Spirit. This is one of your best poems of late, Robert, as you seem to be, spiritually, traveling into a different space. I have sensed, perhaps, a feeling of loss within you and possibly a slight floundering as you regroup. I think this poem is the verifying climax to the feelings that I have been sensing about you. Each elevating level of the spirit's evolution has a certain painful aspect, much like pushing through a birth canal toward the light. Excellent writing!
Take care,
Sherry
The spirit evolving... death, rebirth and resurrection. Some seem able to achieve or experience all three while yet remaining here on this earthly plane. Some seem to follow a more sequential pattern that goes with the natural ordering of things. Some, it seems to me, believe themselves to have been reborn who are yet inwardly living condemned to death; and some believe themselves to be dust and ashes while being spiritually highly evolved. Sounds like I just need to get some more sleep, but this is a softly woven and lavishly textured piece that speaks of a journey which we all make - with many others or with just that special "one" - that time and space has no bearing upon. Reminds me of the invincible deaths of Romeo and Juliet and of Antony and Cleopatra: the fate of "star-cross'd lovers". Tender and that BS word... bittersweet!! :)) TY Kate xx
Okay, no jokes from the minx spirit, Shaman. ;-) It's a beautiful write, sir. Good flow, simmering with romance--a sense of loss, yet the resolution of acceptance of what must be, consequently, it alludes to an evolution of inner peace and hope. ~~Nordette
