Subverting the imagery with the Easter story, for this weekend I can see this as the inverse mirror image of Jesus' betrayal by Judas, his death and resurrection... in reverse it would be coming back from heaven to earth to be greeted by a kiss of affection instead! However, that apart, this reads as the kind of metamorphoses that takes place in the characters of classic mythology: the refining process born out of intense passion of one kind or another: "Passion in extremis". Also, as a kind of Beauty and the Beast write. It is mde fascinating by the sense of mystery which is intensified by the underwritten style,giving no clues or hints of explanations. How well this works, because the effect seems to be to draw the reader in to multiple-readings to try and gain insight into the striking images that intrigue.
