Dream Scene (i) ... the Salacious Creature

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In my dream I was strolling along the shoreline
Where I could see a faint figure in the distance
Walking on the water
Splashing across my mind
It approached slowly
Rippling through surges of heat
Rising into the air
Like a mirage
Appearing and evaporating
In the fine mist embracing the tide
At first, it appeared to be clad in a dark robe
Unanimated and foreboding
But as I looked up to the sun and back to shore
The robe was white and rippling in the wind
In a graceful stride
It approached closer
Removing its cloak
She transformed into a salacious creature
With beautiful, sparkling wings radiating from her naked form
She then pointed in a seductive manner
Moaning in a wide range of octaves
Like the sirens of Scylla
Over her was a white dove
Landing between us on the sand
I pressed her smooth skin against mine
And awoke suddenly
With the smell of the sea upon my skin
Why can't I dream like that? Isn't salacious bad? I checked, just sexy, and that ain't bad.
Rebirth. Transformation. Destiny fulfilled. Baptism into yourself. I think that you sort of like the person you are becoming. This is good...
Sounds like you met Dana, the Irish mother Goddess, who came from the sea bringing law, learning, healing and the creative arts to these islands on the western fringe of Europe (search Tuatha de Danaans for more info.)
I always enjoy a good Goddess poem and I like the way some images in this appear to lead to a conventional conclusion but then take us deeper into the more ancient mysteries.
I love that ending.
DREAM SCENE is a sensual psychedelic mind journey. One I wouldn't mind hitching a ride on.
I bet that was one dream you did not want to wake up from so soon :-) It would appear you saw beyond your fears to the true light that was surrounding her :-) Excellent conception.
Salacious within purity in closeness... from unanimated and foreboding in the distance. What a wonderful evolution within a fabulous dream!
... I suppose I come to this this morning through the filter of my own thoughts about embracing death with the white flag of a kiss; this "angelic visitation" you write about here helps me to process, yet again, thoughts about making our peace with the life/death continuum; how spiritual, creative and personal progression is an evolving integration of both and how not to fear the dark or the deep waters - but rather to embrace them. On a different tack, your creature's seductive moaning reminds me of my first antenatal classes, in which the midwife enlightened us that the noises a woman makes during childbirth are not dissimilar to those involuntary groans breathed during the act of love-making... "How appropriate!", I thought!! :)) Dream on, Jude. TY Kate xx
That which is forbidden becomes addictive; if we don't take the leap of faith we miss much of life and your words eloquently allude to this fact. Nice write.
That dream ended just a little too abruptly...I hate when that happens. Perhaps you can pick it up again another time. The evolving image gives a surreal quality to this poem that both captivated and enchanted me. It was with a small sorrowful sigh that I read the last words. Your poem left me feeling like I just finished reading a mystery novel and in the end found out someone had torn out the last chapter. Wonderful write, Robert.
Take care,
Sherry
