~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In my dream, there is a lush valley
Of purple, yellow and red flowers
It seemed the entire dreamscape
Was a lavish skin of color and form
In the valley
There is a group of tipis
With smoke rising from the tops
As I looked closer I realized the tipis were smoldering
And only skeletal remains of these once magnificent structures
Were not dressed with buffalo hide
But with glowing ambers
And all were beginning to collapse
A streak of horror filled my thoughts
As I saw a cavalry of soldiers
Heading off into the distance
Their horses splashing through a muddy ravine
I could see the glimmer of swords raised into the air
The smell of death was now surrounding me
In this village of mayhem
I realized I was here before
And was now recalling the fragrance
When my spirit raised into the air
To dance around the eternal campfire
Of the great spirit beyond
This is sad and powerfully emotional. really makes one realize that there really is reincarnation. Such a horrible tragedy of times gone by. Wars of any kind what are they good for? The Great Spirit lifting and dancing setting the soul free of the tragedy. Brings peace and comfort.
Jude,
I almost missed this. Strange day I am having. lol!
I love the recognition in this, the illusion that draws
one in to a seemingly new and vibrant place and then the
"wake-up" moment of familiarity that jolts one back to reality.
Of course this is a much trimmed down version of what I am attempting
to say, and if it is way off...ignore the peanut gallery.
As far as the poetic genius of the poem, that goes without saying!
It wasn't a dream. Unfortunately, burning tepees are part of history the revisionists like to ignore.
Your Profound images take the reader into your verses, Robert. The dreams of turmoil and anguish are the most difficult for me to be comfortable with, but I know that there is a lesson within them, also. "I have seen the enemy and it is us." Excellent write, Robert!
Take care,
Sherry
The line, "...was now recalling the fragrance When my spirit raised into the air..." is-tho tragic-quite beautiful Jude. You are a dreamwalker and your visions remind us where we have been. The incredible imagery of this write puts us there...
I believe many of us have lived past lives - and if one of yours was in this place of death, it truly was a painful and heartwrenching scene.
If this is a reoccuring dream, you might be reliving memories of a past life. Have you ever thought about doing a past life regression? You might be surprised at what you find back there...this is a haunting, chilling write. Michelle
Stunning, Jude! Your words have the dreamlike quality I'm sure you aimed to induce, but the images it creates are vivid.
The content of this one, Jungle Jude, seems to remind me of your earlier "Lost and Found" dream write - and it also seems to be the inverse of another one: "Consuming the Jungle", I think (told you I am voracious!!). It seems to me that, in the scale of things globally, all our spiritualities are merging into a pursuit for "white light" out there, and there is an especial interest and a desire to be able to relate to those beliefs of those communities who are so much more in touch with terra firma - i.e. wot we ourselves have jetisoned, lusting after our high-tech lifestyles and comforts. The Blind Boys of Alabama (wot's left of them!) have recently done a new cover version of Norman Greenbaum's original "Spirit in the Sky"; this write has eyes that are wiiiiide open and sending out signals that are written in smoke. Must dig out my old hippy hat again today... TY Kate xx PS line 11 - ambers/embers? Just a thought.
Dreams often go from serene and peaceful to horrific. This is an excellent write. You have vivid dreams and remember them because you are so creative. I know people who have no idea if or what they've dreamt.
